At honey harvest time the honeycombs are carefully opened to allow for honey to drain from the comb. The bees seal the honey into the combs with wax "capping" placed over every cell filled with honey. This capping is removed at harvest and is used in the production of our beeswax.

the beeswax I ordered was white and I use it for encaustic painting. However, the lovely beeswax smell is gone and there is a funny unpleasant odor, which is strange. I am not too happy with it because of this strange smell. So just be prepared when you get your beeswax. Think I will go back to the yellow natural just because the smell of this white wax is offensive to me.
